Day 5

At 7:30am the breathing tube was removed as Andrew was strong overnight and was breathing well. So, a step up on that big ladder that he has to climb. The ICU room is a lot quieter and roomier without all of that respiratory equipment and IV drips. He will probably get out of the ICU tomorrow on continued good behaviour. As expected he is pretty sleepy and pretty hoarse from the tube over the last number of days.

He wrote us a note today!

Thanks again for all of the outpouring of support in this difficult situation. We remain hopeful.

  25. Hi Marcie and Steve: Great to read that Andrew is starting to respond well.
Spencer asked me about leaving the VTC to be with you on Monday and he was given my our full support. Spencer is doing amazing here and looking forward to racing with Anthony Jacob . They are up against our Silver Medal Beijing 2- of Calder and Frandsen as well as the rest of the squad going for the four and 2-. Spencer is a tough kid and I am sure that if Andrew is anything like him he will pull through well. Thinking of you and your family. All the best to Andrew. Terry Paul, Rowing Canada
